Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH)

Applications are invited for a Post-doctoral Researcher, in the Photonic Materials and Devices Laboratory (PMDL), Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL), Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), in the area of Advanced Fibre Optic Devices. The Post-Doctoral position is funded by the EU Project IASIS. The candidate will conduct research work on the development of advanced fibre optic grating sensors inscribed in standard and micro-structured optical fibres and utilizing nano-composite materials.

The position requires a PhD in a relevant area of physics, electrical engineering, photonics or materials science. The applicant must have prior experience in fibre optics and photonics. Prior experience with optical fibre tapers, fibre optical device development for sensing/switching applications, fibre gratings, and with microstructured/photonic crystal fibres is considered to be strong advantage.

The successful candidate will be granted direct access to world class ultrafast, laser facilities, advanced grating inscription instrumentation and a richly equipped photonics laboratory. Detailed description of the research topics and infrastructure of the PMD Laboratory can be found at: http://www.iesl.forth.gr/users/pmdl/index.htm.

The position, which will be available after November 1
