The Smart Cities Inter-Platform Working Group
The Smart Cities Inter-Platform Working Group (GICI) was created in 2012 at the initiative of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness to respond to the existing needs in the field of Smart Cities. The Working Group is made up of 21 Spanish Technological Platforms related to smart cities, being coordinated by FutuRed, and has established the following objectives:
- Prepare a vision and specific strategic agenda that allows the correct development of the city of the future, including the transverse content of the platforms with special emphasis on the technologies used in the cities.
- Coordinate, as required, participation in national and international forums on Smart Cities.
- Advise the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness on the needs it requires in terms of smart cities.
- Strengthen the role and the Spanish presence in the international arena, especially in Europe.

In February 2018, the new GICI 2018 solutions catalogue waspublished: “Sesiones de trabajo temáticas sobre ideas de proyectos de Ciudades Inteligentes”.

The document describes, in an orderly and systematic way, the vision of the smart city until 2030 in terms of technology development from the approach of the platforms involved in its elaboration.
